Head of Partnership Sales (Partner Role)

This is not a traditional sales leadership role.

The Head of Partnership Sales is a partner-level position responsible for building and stewarding long-term revenue partnerships between our global membership organization and businesses that serve venture-backed founders. These partners may pay for access to our membership, sponsor curated dinners or events, and participate in long-term strategic relationships with our chapters around the world.

We are a profit-sharing partnership. Partner-level compensation is tied to long-term enterprise value and eventual profits, not short-term commissions or quotas. This role requires judgment, patience, and leverage — not hustle, pressure, or volume-based selling.

What This Role Is Really About

This role exists to:

  • Identify businesses that genuinely benefit from trusted, high-context access to venture-backed founders
  • Translate our membership and chapter ecosystem into clear, integrity-aligned partnership opportunities
  • Orchestrate long-term relationships that compound in value over time
  • Protect trust with our members while enabling sponsors and partners to succeed

Success is measured by the durability, alignment, and compounding value of partnerships — not by deal velocity or volume.

Core Superpower (At Least One Required)

This role requires strong alignment with at least ONE of the following core superpowers. You do not need all three.

  • Orchestration — Joy in sequencing, leverage, and strategic maneuvering. You naturally think in second-order effects and prefer shaping conditions over forcing outcomes.
  • Coordination — Joy in bringing multiple stakeholders into a coherent, low-friction system. You notice misalignment early and work to resolve it before trust erodes.
  • Translation — Joy in facilitating meaningful shared understanding across different incentives, languages, or expectations. You make complex relationships legible and actionable.

Working Genius Alignment

This role strongly favors:

  • Discernment — judgment with incomplete information; deciding what should happen, when, and why
  • Enablement — helping others succeed through structure, connection, or sequencing

Optional but helpful:

  • Galvanizing — mobilizing action once alignment is clear

Misalignment with these working modes typically shows up as friction or burnout, not incompetence.

What You Will Do

  • Identify and cultivate partnership opportunities with businesses serving venture-backed founders
  • Engage potential partners in high-context conversations focused on long-term mutual value
  • Design partnership structures that respect member trust and sponsor objectives
  • Coordinate with chapter leaders to align local opportunities with global strategy
  • Steward relationships over time, adjusting structure as conditions evolve
  • Exercise judgment about when to advance, slow, or decline opportunities

What This Role Is Not

This role is not designed for people whose primary energy comes from:

  • High-volume outbound sales or pipeline management
  • Scripted selling, quotas, or commission-driven incentives
  • Process ownership, operational control, or end-to-end execution
  • Constant urgency, pressure, or deal velocity

These are valuable strengths — they simply belong in different roles.

Partner Economics & Structure

This is an early partner role within a profit-sharing partnership. Compensation is tied to long-term enterprise value and eventual profits, not short-term commissions. The role carries owner-level accountability, ambiguity, and trust. In the early years, cash compensation may be limited or deferred as the organization prioritizes building durable enterprise value and long-term profitability. Partners are expected to be comfortable operating with a long-term, ownership-based upside orientation and asymmetric risk during the early phase.

This role is best suited for individuals who can operate effectively without relying on near-term cash compensation and who view deferred upside as a core part of early partnership.

Before Applying

Before applying, all candidates are required to complete a short self-assessment designed to help you determine whether this role is genuinely aligned with how you operate. Opting out due to misalignment is a successful outcome.

If this assessment feels unnecessary or frustrating, this role is likely not a fit.

Join Riverse as a Carbon Project Analyst and support impactful projects worldwide in gaining access to carbon markets.

👋 Who We’re Looking For

As part of the Riverse Certification Operations team, you won’t just follow a checklist—you’ll own complex and sometimes first-of-their-kind carbon certification projects from end to end. You’ll work alongside a passionate team of climate and environmental experts (meet the team here) to transform raw data into credible, high-impact carbon credits. Partnering closely with Samara, you’ll be continuously improving how we certify projects—ensuring every ton issued meets the highest standards of integrity.

Our start-up culture means high levels of autonomy, no micro-management, and a strong focus on experimentation and innovation.

Start date: June/July 2025

🌱 Key Skills for Success

This role positions you at the forefront of our climate impact operations, working with our internal methodologies and external partners to deliver robust carbon project certifications. You’ll be key in ensuring that our methodologies drive rigorous, impactful, and sustainable outcomes.

  • Solid Technical Background: You hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering, environmental science, or a related field, equipping you with the technical foundation needed to navigate the complex carbon markets.
  • Driven to Achieve Operational Efficiency: You bring at least 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in operations—whether in project management, consultancy, or client-facing roles—and are known for your pragmatic approach and ability to make informed decisions that keep things moving forward.
  • Effective Communication & Project Management: You combine excellent communication skills (English is a must, French is a strong plus) with a proactive and responsive mindset. You're comfortable juggling multiple projects at once, ensuring smooth coordination with diverse partners and timely delivery across all fronts.
  • Domain Knowledge: You have a solid understanding of climate mitigation solutions and industrial systems, and you’re proficient in carbon impact measurement methodologies—such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Carbon Footprinting, or the GHG Protocol. Strong carbon accounting skills are a must for this role.
  • Analytical & Detail-Oriented: With a sharp eye for detail, you critically assess complex calculation models as well as client-provided data. You don’t take information at face value —you're comfortable pushing back, asking the right questions, and requesting better inputs when needed to ensure accuracy and integrity in our methods and processes.
  • Collaborative & Curious: You thrive in cross-functional settings, learning from climate, product, and data teams alike—and you proactively share ideas to strengthen our collective understanding of evolving voluntary carbon market and carbon dioxide removals.

Please do not worry if you don’t match all these points – we value potential and are excited to discuss opportunities with those who are passionate about the work.

🔎 Responsibilities

  • Manage Project Certification: Collaborate with partners to gather project data and conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) using our in-house models. Ensure each project aligns with eligibility requirements defined by our standard and methodology-specific rules—for example, verifying feedstock sustainability in a biochar project or assessing system boundaries in electronics refurbishing.
  • Translate Customer Context into Project Documentation: Engage directly with customers to understand their technologies and operations—in various domains like biochar production, electronics refurbishing, or carbon dioxide removal—and apply these insights to write down accurate and relevant project documentation, including eligibility assessments and project design documents (PDDs).
  • Uphold Quality Standards: Master the Riverse Standard Rules and methodologies to enforce high quality and rigor throughout the project application review and certification process.
  • Engage in Problem-Solving: Work closely with our partners to understand their operations, identify challenges, and develop robust, evidence-based arguments that satisfy our certification requirements.
  • Balance Speed and Precision: Ensure efficient project certification by maintaining clear, proactive communication with project leaders and auditors, balancing pace with uncompromising quality.
  • Continuous Improvement: develop templates, processes, contribute to certification platform design, engage with the science team to help implement new methodologies… to improve our certification process, make it easier for project developers, auditors and ourselves

🏔️ About us

To reach Net Zero by 2050, we must drastically cut CO2e emissions and remove 6 to 10 gigatonnes of CO2 annually from the atmosphere. In short, we have less than three decades to scale a nascent industry to a size comparable to the entire oil and gas sector.

At Riverse, we’re here to enable this transformation by building the leading carbon crediting platform for engineered carbon mitigation projects.

Founded in 2021 by Clément, Grégoire, and Ludovic—three long-time friends united by a shared mission to accelerate the transition to a circular and sustainable industry—Riverse is a mission-driven company. Today, we are a team of 12 passionate individuals from six different nationalities.

In 2024, Riverse became only the 12th carbon crediting organization worldwide to achieve ICROA endorsement, the highest level of accreditation in the voluntary carbon market.

We are backed by Speedinvest, a leading European VC specializing in climate and industrial tech, along with Techstars, Evolem, and several high-profile business angels with entrepreneurial and climate expertise.
